Charities

Charities play an increasingly important role in society today, and with some key national as well as several significant locally based charities in Coventry and Warwickshire and the wider Midlands, charities are an important area of our practice. We have created a separate sector unit in order to effectively advise our charity clients.

As a firm we are passionate about advising and helping charities, and have a long and enviable track record of delivering sound and practical advice to this sector.

Charities benefit from significant tax exemptions and reliefs. However, their recognition and success as charities is subject to fairly stringent controls and regulations by statute and the Charity Commission.

Our team is experienced in all such matters and well placed to offer sound legal advice with a commercial edge, meaning it is not only bespoke to your situation, but also takes any wider issues that might be, or become, relevant into account.

Our client base covers charities of a wide range of sizes and structures, including education and training, arts and culture, religious and grant-based fields.  We cover a range of legal issues, and in addition to advising in relation to pure charity law issues such as constitution, governance and compliance, and on the formation and incorporation of charities.  Our charities team also brings together the legal issues which affect all organisations on a day-to-day basis, such as property, employment, litigation and dispute resolution.
