Why did you choose the law?
I began working in the Interventions Team alongside the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) and this gave me an insight of how Law firms work behind the scenes. Having had exposure to Wills, Trusts and Probate files, I knew from that point onwards that I wanted to be more involved and have a hands-on approach within in the sector.
Tell us a bit about how you got here:
I joined the Wills, Trust and Probate Team at Band Hatton Button in August 2022 and was promoted to Paralegal in April 2024.
When I joined the firm as a Secretary, I was introduced to Wills, Trusts and Probate. My love for this area has grown with my exposure through meeting clients and assisting the lawyers in their caseloads.
What does your day job look like?
My role as a Paralegal is to support the lawyers in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team by drafting documentation for their approval to include Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. I regularly sit in on meetings with clients and take detailed notes to include action points.
I am often the first point of contact for many new and existing clients to ask for advice or arrange an appointment.
My greatest strengths lie in my caring approach, I enjoy working with people and get great satisfaction in providing compassionate and sensitive advice in what can often be difficult and stressful times.
I am a Dementia Friend along with the rest of the Wills, Trusts and Probate Team. The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends training programme enables people to understand the condition and it changes the perception people have on dementia. The initiative makes a difference to someone with dementia as it provides others with an insight as to how it might affect them.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love being social and catching up with friends and family. I like cooking for family members and trying new recipes. I enjoy watching Formula 1 football and attending games of my childhood team at Anfield.
