Charlotte Barker-Davies
Why did you choose the law?
I considered a career in law from a young age, with a father, grandfather and uncle who all chose the profession, I have always been both personally and professionally around the law. In view of the family history, I wished to consider other possible careers, to ensure I was making an informed decision prior to settling on law. I chose to read Economics at The University of Liverpool. Following graduation and obtaining experience working in various different sectors, I still felt drawn to the law and embarked on the law conversion course (Graduate Diploma in Law) at the College of Law, Bloomsbury followed by the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Moorgate.
Tell us a bit about how you got here…
I trained at the family firm, Richardson & Davies, qualifying in October 2013. Following qualification, I gained further experience in a wide variety of matters, in particular transactions with a property element, acting for both individuals and businesses at Richardson & Davies, the firm joined forces with Band Hatton Button in January 2020.
What does your day job look like?
I deal with a number of different property matters and sectors, including healthcare professionals, landlords and tenants across numerous sectors including retail and leisure facilities, developers and clubs. At any one time I may be dealing with acquisitions and disposals of freehold/leasehold property, including sales of part and provisions relating to rights and covenants, overage agreements, leases together with transactions relating to leases such as licences to assign, underlet and alterations of premises. Therefore, two days are never the same.
What Do You Like to Do Outside of Work?
I enjoy being active, the great outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
