Looking at the Bigger Picture when Making a Will

Making a Will is an opportunity to put your affairs into good order.

When a client instructs us to draft a Will on their behalf, we talk to them in depth about the bigger picture of what is involved when deciding who to leave their hard earned wealth to. People are often mistaken in thinking the only reason to make a Will is to ensure their wealth passes onto their loved ones. This is of course the paramount decision when making a Will, however there is a lot more to consider and think carefully about.

We have discussions with clients about their family dynamics as sometimes there may be concerns about estranged relatives or those who might be vulnerable for some reason. We can offer solutions to ensure your Will is drafted in the best way possible to ensure loved vulnerable ones are looked after on your death.

We talk to our client's about their assets to enable us to provide them with advice on how inheritance tax works. We provide clients with inheritance tax planning advice if it is likely their estate will be subject to an inheritance tax liability.

As probate practitioners and specialists in this area, we can offer a different perspective when it comes to drafting your Will. There are questions we ask our clients that they may not have given any thought to and we are there to offer advice and solutions on situations that may not have even crossed their minds. By taking the time to get to know our clients and speaking in depth with them, they can rest assured we are drafting a Will on their behalf which fully reflects their wishes and in turn, this will make matters as straightforward as possible for Executors.

At Band Hatton Button, we have a wealth of experience and include members of Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).
